    Description

    In wintertime, especially if the temperature difference is large, there can appear a thin layer of icing on the roads, which makes the wheels of vehicles slide and pedestrians inevitably fall on it. That’s why ice-covered roads are scattered with sand and salt mixture, which makes the icing melt and at the same time improves the adhesion of soles and tyres to the road surface.

    To prepare this mixture mechanical systems for preparation of sand and salt mixture are used. Such mechanical system is a complex of equipment, which enables the preparation of two- and three-component mixtures of bulk materials with any percentage of source components. This mechanical system for preparation of sand and salt mixture is used for wintertime maintenance of roads and sidewalks. The mechanical system for preparation of sand and salt mixture consists of the following units and sets: a complete set of hoppers with dosers linked together; a belt conveyor with a jib and a curved conveyor.

    The hopper is a box-type welded structure. In the upper part of the hopper there is fixed a grating, which disables the falling of large objects into the hopper. In order to prevent the hanging of bulk materials on the sloping sides of the hopper there is fixed a vibrator. To enlarge the volume of the bulk materials, there are fixed drop sides on the sidewalls in the upper part of the hopper, which lay on the grating during transfer position. To control the supply of bulk materials from the hopper onto the dosing belt in the bottom part of the hopper there is fixed a damper.

    The electromechanical doser is a channel welded structure. On the frame of the doser there is fixed a driving pulley and a tension pulley, and also an electric motor with a reducer. The movement of the belt conveyor is performed by the chain transmission through the reducer to the motor. The doser is mounted on the guides in the bottom part of the hopper.

    The belt conveyor with a jib. The frame of the transporter is a welded structure that consists of angles and channels. The frame is the main unit of the conveyor for mounting the driving pulley with a drive, the tension pulley, the conveyor belt and the charging chute on it. The drive is from the electric motor through the reducer to the driving pulley by means of belt drive and chain drive.

    The curved conveyor. The conveyor consists of a transporter, which leans through the bar and the frame on the running wheels platform; a support and a supporting plate. The transporter is a welded girder with mounted idlers, a driving pulley and a tension pulley, a drive and a belt. The bottom part of the transporter is fixed on the supporting plate bar. The running wheels platform consists of a welded frame with a drive mounted on it, a bearing housing with a bearing axis and flanges. To the flanges there are mounted wheels placed at an angle.

    The operating principle of the mechanical system for preparation of sand and salt mixture is the following: one of the hoppers is filled with salt, while two other hoppers are filled with sand. Depending on the proportional composition of the sand and salt mixture the dampers slightly open for supplying of the definite volume of the components onto the dosing belts from the hoppers.

    The percentage composition of the ingredients in the prepared sand and salt mixture can vary widely.
